ABOUT JASON
I've been working in the entertainment industry for over 30 years, making my mark as a writer, producer, creative consultant and teaching artist.
Since 1998, my independent production company, Monday Morning Productions, has produced new works by established playwrights featuring award-winning performers. MMP has also been a platform to produce my own works, including my plays A Month of Sundays, him & her and my popular web series, “He’s With Me“, which debuted online in June 2013. The show has been chosen as official selections of the Independent Series Awards, The LA Web Fest, The Denver Film Festival and the Rome Web Awards and been nominated for and won numerous awards. Both seasons are currently offered on YouTube, and is offered for sale on Amazon. My series "Cady Did", created for Tony Award Winner Cady Huffman, was nominated for 12 Indie Series Awards, winning 5, including Best Comedy Series. With my extensive experience creating indie series, I've created a new business, Make Your Show, offering aspiring actors and show runners the opportunity to see their work onscreen.
My film, “A Conversational Place”, directed by Bob Giraldi and starring Emmy winner Marilyn Sokol, has been an official selection by many film festivals across the country, including Miami Short Film Festival, Atlanta ShortsFest, OUTrageous Film Festival of Santa Barbara, FilmColumbia and DAMN! Film Series. The film won a Gold Spotlight Award and an Award of Merit, Best Actress (Marilyn Sokol) and Best Screenplay (Jason Cicci) by the One-Reeler Short Film Competition.
Currently, I am the Director of MovieMaker, a program for young filmmakers at the historic Sacred Heart University Community Theatre in Fairfield, CT. My curriculum covers everything from scriptwriting to production to editing, culminating in a red carpet event where filmmakers' films are shown on the big screen. I am also a Teaching Artist at Klein Theatre Arts, an after-school performing arts school for young people, where I teach acting, film and audition. I am a frequent Guest Teaching Artist at Fieldston Ethical Culture and in the Master in Directing Department at School of Visual Arts, where I was a faculty member in the Masters of Directing Department for 4 years. At SVA, I help students create narrative stories with complex characters, culminating in a film festival at the end of the year. I've also made a niche for myself coaching young actors. My accessible teaching style matched with my experience enables me to coach actors and inform young people about many aspects of the entertainment business, including, but not limited to auditioning and professional marketing.
Past projects include Summerstage New York, a professional summer theatre company in Upstate New York and At That Stage Productions, a company made up of young performers, musicians and administrators.
A lifelong supporter of the arts, I serve on the Advisory Board of the Theatre World Awards and as an adjudicator for the Innovative Theatre Awards.
I am a graduate of the Syracuse University Drama Department.
